Z4 Recruitment is a specialist recruitment consultancy with a novel approach to supporting the growth of smaller scale businesses.

Based in London, we provide expertise in recruitment for Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing businesses across the UK and strong aspirations to grow our presence in markets further afield.

We have graduated from and worked in STEM based industries before specialising in recruitment and offer unparalleled market knowledge to help you find your right match.

Zaman Mahmud CEng

Founder and Recruitment Consultant

I am a personable and technical recruiter with a simple and transparent approach that has both client and candidate satisfaction at its core.

I graduated with a master’s degree in Engineering in 2005 and achieved Chartership status in 2011 with the majority of my experience in the aerospace industry. This has given me an excellent technical foundation to appreciate the workings of technically oriented businesses. Since 2012 I have exclusively recruited for STEM based companies across all levels.

Interest in STEM

I have always had a passion for STEM and have carried this zeal into my recruitment career. For many years I was a STEM Ambassador, volunteering with local primary and secondary schools encouraging students to explore STEM based careers and now I am fortunate enough to be paid for the privilege.

I mentor engineering students at my alma mater and have volunteered my services for CV feedback to STEM undergraduates across the country since 2014. My enthusiasm to bring the best out of the candidates I work with is undeniable and led to numerous long term relationships, many of whom work with me exclusively.

My Career Highlight

Within my recruitment career to date, I am proudest of my partnership with an automotive start-up in Oxfordshire who were initially operating from a makeshift shed when we first worked together. I was instrumental in their growth to a very successful medium sized company 5 years later. This included multiple headhunting assignments for specialist and senior level positions. The joy of growing with an organisation is at the heart of my motivation to work with cutting edge STEM organisations at the beginning of their venture. This is the sweet spot where a tailored approach to recruitment reaps the greatest reward.
